Re: Request for GPHY 101 GPHY 208 GPHY 368 GPHY 351 GPHY 368 to be removed from my Queens academic record, (student number 20120302)
I am a student in third year at Queen's University in the Geography department. During Covid-19 I have had great difficulty connecting to the course material and aligning with the content and expectations. This past fall 2020, I managed to get off to a good start but as the semester progressed I began to struggle with changes required with distance learning. My difficulties grew during the term and culminated in a near complete withdrawal from my courses by mid November.
As I moved to Kingston I had a very difficult time with stress and isolation from classes, professors, and students in my program. I was able to manage for the first month and half of the term partly because I started my courses working from home in Toronto. Unfortunately I felt too removed from Queens, so I moved to Kingston early October. As the term progressed, the isolation effect accumulated and due to the lack of structure, and the on-line format for classes created by the pandemic I found myself unable to engage in the academics. I was feeling completely disconnected from friends and the entire academic experience and as a result I had a difficult time working through the lectures and assignments. Clearly I am someone who needs the classroom experience. This resulted in my partial withdrawal from academics. I have considered deferring or dropping out this year but I have since moved back to Toronto and I do see a path forward this term.
Doing well at Queens is very important to me and I am committed to making changes that will improve my grades. This semester I will be staying at home in Toronto with my parents instead of returning to Kingston. I will work with my parents to develop better working habits and stay on top of my work. This will help establish a structure in my life that I find very important to staying on top of my work. I will also be working on bettering the Furthermore, I will be reducing my course load from five courses to three, I am doing this to reduce the amount of work that orevinouly overwhelmed me last semester.
My request to have the courses below removed from my transcript: GPHY 101 GPHY 208 GPHY 368 GPHY 351 GPHY 368. I hope you appreciate my situation and my ambition to organize differently in this strange covid world. If there is any additional information required at your end, please let me know and I organize things for you right away.
Sincerely,
Ben Cape
