Petition Letter: Good Morning,

I hope the person who is reading this appeal letter is doing well and staying safe.

I am writing this formal appeal letter in order to request the dropping of a class. I understand that this is after the deadline date. However, due to some circumstances, I was unable to drop the class in a timely manner. I understand that the last day to drop the class was the 5th of March but on that day I had a midterm exam. After the midterm exam, I had to rush home to Ottawa for a family emergency. Due to the midterm exam and family emergency, the deadline completely slipped my mind. Over the past week, I have been dealing with an abundance of school work as well as I have been feeling very stressed considering I missed the deadline date. Due to this, I was unable to complete an assignment in the class I am hoping to drop, which will greatly affect my academic standing as in my mind I was already out of the class even though I technically was not.

Due to all of this, I really would like to drop this specific class as it is building on my stress levels knowing that I did not complete an assignment as well as I had to rush home after the midterm exam, making me unable to complete the class drop by the proper date.

I hope everything in this letter is being taken into count and I thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I hope I am able to drop this class, as it will take massive amounts of much-needed weight off of my shoulders.
