To the Associate Dean (Studies):

My name is Suthaharan Thanabalasingam and my student number is 05964322. I have returned to Queen¿¿s University as a mature student to complete a Second Degree in BSc Math while strengthening my grades and obtaining a strong mathematical foundation in Data Science. I am appealing to drop STAT 457 from my Winter 2021 term without academic or financial penalty.

I am basing this request on being very sick from February 24th, 2021 to March 19th, 2021. These dates were inclusive of March 5th, 2021, the last date to drop a course without academic or financial penalty. Despite being unwell on that date, I held the hope that I would make a speedy recovery and complete the course successfully. Unfortunately, my recovery was longer and worse than I expected. I have missed key course content and evaluation (i.e., midterm and two assignments) and I feel I am beyond the point of recovery.

If my appeal is granted, it will not impact my path to graduation and it will allow me to focus on my remaining courses without feeling anxious or overwhelmed. This will ensure I achieve strong grades and successfully complete my Second Degree.
