Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello, I hope all is well.

My name is James Crystal, Student 20216974. I am appealing to replace my PHIL 151 fall grade with a CR standing on my transcript.

This course took place during the fall, as my previous appeals will reflect, during the fall term I struggled heavily with mental health. The toll this took on my grades was felt in this course, especially towards the end of the term. Due to complications with a residence, I became extremely overwhelmed and struggled to complete my responsibilities as a student.

During the fall term this course was actually one of the best grades I was able to maintain, however, towards the end of this term my issues began to peak and I let my grade slip. My clouded mind made the poor decision that I was too mentally exhausted to study well and my grade tumbled from an A to a C-.

My mental health was the reason I was so unmotivated, hurting my ability to study. My fall Econ grade also reflects this. I cannot stress how much I appreciate the granting of a CR grade in that course. during the fall term, philosophy was subject to the same sudden changes in my mental health as Econ, which severely impacted my ability to study.

I apologize for not adding this course to my prior appeal with Econ as I realize this would have been more efficient but I only just learned I could place two courses under one appeal. This letter concerns the same extenuating circumstances that were discussed in appeal 7483, which was granted.

I greatly appreciate your previous support and thank you deeply for your time. The changes already made to my transcript have given me much hope for the future and I would like to ensure you that I am and have been dedicated to my student responsibilities.

I do not feel like my work during the fall term reflects me as a student, nor my work ethic. I am committed to turning this around during the winter term, however, I fear my transcript will be defined and dragged down by the by-product of my struggle in the fall. This appeal will help me as it will change my philosophy mark to a GPA neutral standing on my transcript and will therefore not hurt my transcript. Please let me know if there is anything else I may do to help with this process.

Many thanks and kind regards.
Sincerely,
James Crystal

Professional Letter Detail: This is a doctors note I received which I needed to switch floors from Ground floor Chown Hall to 2nd Floor. This certifies my mental state at the time and the impact I felt from isolation.
