Petition Letter: Dear associate dean,
I am writing this letter to request a drop for my statistics course BIOL 243. I had plans to drop it before the academic deadline because I made the decision to take six courses this semester. Call it ambition, call it arrogance in the face of so many people telling me that second year was a brutish and demanding year and that I should not try to make things more difficult for myself--I do not regret taking the course. However, I experienced technology issues the whole semester with running R, a program we use in the course, and wifi problems that overlapped with our weekly tutorials. This led me to fall behind and at a certain point, I felt that I was not learning anything in the class because there was too much to catch up on. My mark also suffered and I worry that it will negatively affect my transcript. I did not drop the course before the drop deadline because this is a mandatory course for my program that is not offered in the summer. I have recently contacted the biochemistry office however, and found out that I am able to take another statistics course in place of BIOL 243 this summer which I plan to do.
Please consider my appeal.
Thank you,
Isabel
