Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I have been living in Belize with extended family this semester and attending school. I was sexually assaulted (raped) one week ago in Belize by a stranger who entered my room. My family made arrangements for me to receive medical care locally (which was invasive) and to rush me home to Canada with help from officials at Global Affairs and Public Health. I have pre-existing depression (diagnosed in 2020 with Major Depressive Disorder). I am traumatized as a result of this violent experience. I am unable to concentrate or focus. I cannot stop crying. I am having a hard time eating food. I wake up repeatedly throughout the night and have nightmares. I have not yet been able to access counselling as I just got home. I have tried studying for my exams with limited success. I do not know when I will be able to concentrate or focus well enough to perform well on my exams. The pressure of having to write exams is totally overwhelming to me. It would be my preference to have my course grade to date, count as my final grade (Aegrotat Standing) if at all possible.
