Petition Letter: Good evening,
I hope you are doing well and staying safe.
After communicating with student wellness services, Deb Bruce recommended that I late drop two courses, PHIL 493, and PHIL 330.
In terms of my reason as to why I let these two courses slip academically, and why I am being advised to drop them, My grandfather, whom I am extremely close to, was diagnosed with terminal cancer in the late Fall.
Seeing the onset and the effects, while trying to spend as much time with him as possible took an enormous toll on not only myself, but my entire family. We were hopeful that lost time could be made up, and that the day we feared was far away.
On March 17th of this year, he passed away.
I have never been one to admit that I am struggling, or that I need help, but after fighting emotions, and grief, I admitted to Sunday and Deb, that I was sinking. That my mental health was seriously affected by the recent events, and that I needed help to get back on track with school.
As such, I've been following their recommendations and plans for accomplishing my goals.
