Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Stephenson,
I am writing to you in hopes of appealing to drop HIST 228 Fighting Germs: Global History of Pandemics (Winter, 2021).
This past January, I was in an accident and I had to undergo surgery on January 25th, just after the drop deadline. I was expected to have a quicker recovery and thought that I would have the opportunity to catch up with my assignments, but as such, my recovery is still ongoing and has been more challenging both physically and mentally than expected. As a result, I was unable to complete the course.
I was enrolled in in two other courses this semester that I also fell behind in. I managed to complete both of these as there were fewer assignments with more lenient deadlines that gave me the flexibility I needed. If my surgery was sooner or the deadline was later I would have dropped a course due to my circumstance.
I appreciate your time and consideration for my appeal to drop HIST 228 Fighting Germs: Global History of Pandemics (Winter, 2021). If there is anything else that you may need, please let me know.
