Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Madam/Sir,

I have unfortunately failed my Biochemistry 218 course. This was my first time that I have failed any course. During the pandemic, my grandmother suffered from a severe stroke, that left her completely paralyzed, and bedridden, and she was in the ICU for more than a month. She shortly passed away thereafter. I was very close to her, and to see her deteriorating condition, and her death greatly affected me mentally, and emotionally. This pandemic has been very challenging, and stressful for me.

With all of this along with my father's job loss, I was not able to find nor afford extra help. My father was our sole breadwinner of our family of five, and this has changed our financial situation during this academic term. I have also been helping my mother, who is a homemaker, as she is recovering from cancer, and was recently diagnosed with a brain lesion/tumor during this time.

I was unable to drop this course, as I received my midterm grade for this course well after the deadline to drop the course. I was hoping that I could improve my grade however due to the above circumstances I was unable to. Due to my family circumstances, I was not in the proper frame of mind to cope up.

Due to the pandemic, this year has been incredibly stressful and challenging for me. I am a hard worker, exemplary and dedicated student. In light of the above circumstances, kindly permit my grade to be dropped from my transcript, as I do not affect my future. Please help as I am a very hardworking, and dedicated student, looking forward to your favorable response.
