Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello, Associate Dean, my name is Triumph Olasoko, and I am a student at Queens University today I am writing you a letter to appeal dropping both Bio 102 and 103 classes that I took this past year but could not drop because it was past the academic deadline to do so and also because for both these courses me passing or getting a decent grade depended on my exam mark so there wasn¿¿t really much point in me dropping them before exams but by then it was already past the deadlines for both.

As you know these have been very tumultuous times for us all with the introduction of a worldwide pandemic and everything that comes with it and as such these create dilemmas or unforeseen personal events that are out of our control which affected my performance this past year which is why I am here today asking you to please help me out by dropping these courses, an example of this would be during the middle of the school year (around February) when a few of my relatives who are up there in age contracted this terrible virus and were very sick so both my parents went to visit them (as they live quite far away) and while they were away I had to take care of my younger siblings in their stead and so this caused a lot of stress on me as I had to juggle that responsibility as well as all my school work and overall it was a very stressful and overbearing time for me. Another example would be that throughout this whole school year as much as I hate to admit it I was going through a lot of anxiety and I was very worried as I kept checking the internet everyday and saw more and more cases of this terrible virus and then once I learned of my relatives contracting it, my anxiety just reached a new level as I was very scared for my family and was constantly worrying night in and night out because I did not want anyone in my family to come down with this virus and that really affected me in my schoolwork and inhibited me from doing as best as I knew I could. A final example would be just this overall transition to online schooling and how it has been less than smooth for me (putting it mildly), all my life I¿¿ve only ever done in class learning so to transition to fully remote online learning especially in university has been very rough for me and it has been negatively affecting my performance which in turn put me in this terrible situation where I have to be sending you this letter to please help me out with dropping these 2 courses.

Going forward in my studies here at Queens University I hope this is the last time I ever have to write you this appeal letter as I plan on firmly adjusting to the situation that is given to me and I pray that no harm comes to my family so that I can keep a clear head during my semesters and if things get really bad as they were this past year I plan on seeking professional help and not trying to go at it alone as I did this past year. I hope you can consider my situation this past year and please help me out as I really these courses dropped to help me get into the program that I desire for the next school year.

Thank you so much for your time and understanding,
Triumph Olasoko
