Dear student academic appeals,
I am submitting an appeal in hopes of changing my logic grade to a Credit Received. I am typically a very good student, always receiving high marks. In my first year of university I always met with TA¿¿s and tutors because even though school was in person, I still appreciated the clarifications and communication. This year I struggled in many ways and due to these struggles my logic grade was negatively impacted. Logic is a very tough course as it is quite mathematical, something that I have always struggled with. Having a mathematical and challenging course online, was horrible. It is a class that needs to be taught in person as it is nearly impossible to teach online. I paid for a tutor over the semester and spent over five-hundred dollars on getting this assistance. Although my tutor was wonderful, it still remained difficult to receive help through zoom calls and not in person help. I worked very hard in this course and spend many hours practicing and doing as best as I could while learning through a video. My group anonymously reviewed me and gave me 100 and stated that I was a kind, hardworking group member that was the glue of the group. On top of my obvious struggled with the course I also had my own struggles. Through the semester I was receiving therapy for my anxiety and was struggling with my mental health. The constant isolation and loneliness that the pandemic and online school caused made me feel so sad and alone. At times, this sadness and anxiety was so overwhelming that it caused me to struggle with studying and focusing on this work. The stress had also caused for me to experience my psoriasis to flare up, an uncomfortable skin- autoimmune disorder which then caused even more stress. The Universities gym was also closed for a lot of the second semester which caused me to not have an outlet for my anxiety, which is something I require, especially when the weather is bad. Eventually, I moved back home to see if that would help me mentally and unfortunately it didn¿¿t seem to improve my mental health as I still felt so isolated from the world. I have the goal of going to law school and I need my grades to be good and my GPA to remain intact in order for this to happen. I do not believe that it would be fair for me to have a damaged average when the circumstances were less then ideal, I spent so much money on a tutor, I applied myself and yet still came out with a poor grade. I am aware that COVID-19 has impacted many people and I do believe that students should not have their transcripts disrupted in these terrible times.
Thank you for your consideration,
Reilly N
