Petition Letter: With COVID, most of the courses that I had planned to take this summer became unavailable. I have been very careful with planning my undergraduate degree and it's unfortunate that this event has happened. I have been trying to get in contact with an academic advisor to figure out this situation and go over my undergraduate degree requirements but have not been able to get a hold of anybody until after the last date to add/drop courses for the summer 2021 term.
With this, I found a mistake in my planning too late, such that I would need to take BIOL 321 in order to complete my undergraduate degree on time to graduate come spring 2022.
Taking 12 courses¿¿6 per semester¿¿in my last year would put me at a disadvantage. I took 6 courses last semester and found it very difficult. My overall mental and physical health took a hit. Additionally, taking a fifth year to satisfy one or two courses is not an option for me as I cannot financially afford to do so.
As a result, I have contacted both Laura Nagel (Prof. of BIOL 321) and Dr. Kenton Ko (the Biology Chair of Undergraduate Studies) to help me through the process.
I would greatly appreciate it if I could be enrolled in BIOL 321, Animal Behaviour, with Professor Laura Nagel and be given the opportunity to successfully complete my undergraduate degree in four years as expected.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: By adding BIOL 321 to my summer 2021 timetable will allow me to graduate on time come spring 2022 and further support my future endeavors.
As I would be a week behind, I plan to contact the professor of the course and obtain any additional work that would help me catch up. I would allocate most of my time to study and work on missed course material and hand in any missing assignments on an appropriate due date discussed with the professor. I currently work from home and have a lot of free time to take two courses this summer term, so catching up will not be a problem for me.
After completing the two courses, I will then take the last 10 courses¿¿BIOL 403 and 416, GEOL 337, ENSC 471, 201 and 307, CHEM 112A/B, HLTH 102, and PHAR 230 (or any substitution courses if some are unavailable)¿¿needed to complete my undergraduate degree of a Bachelor of Sciences Honours in Biology and Life Sciences. Additionally, by taking a normal course load for a full-time student, I will be given the opportunity to have time to participate in extracurriculars here at Queen's University. I am currently a part of the Queen's Women's Football Club as well as work alongside Dave McDowell with the Queen's Women's Soccer Team as the Marketing and Social Media lead, and hope to be involved in many more clubs.
With this degree, I plan to work with the government in Ocean research, conservation, and/or search and rescue. I hope to then take my master's in Marine Biology at the University of British Columbia, where I am from, or the University of Hawaii.
