Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Please accept this as my appeal to allow me into the Summer Psychology 100-700 online class.

I was advised by email on May 13th, 2021, that I had not been admitted to the Psychology Major, as I only received a B in Psychology 100 and a GPA of 3.69. I had less than 24 hours to consider my options before the registration deadline for the Summer Psych 100 closed. At 4:27 p.m. on Friday, May 14th, after having been unsuccessful in trying to register in the course on SOLUS, I sent an email to the Psychology Department. I was not aware that I required permission of the Psychology Department to enrol in the Summer course.

I also sent an email on Friday to the Arts and Science Department to find out why I could not enrol online. However, by this afternoon no one had responded. I therefore called the Faculty of Arts and Science number today, Monday, May 17th, to determine why I had been unable to register for the course, and I again tried to register for the course on SOLUS. I was advised, when I finally was able to speak to someone, that since the deadline for enrolment was Friday, I of course, could not now register without filing an appeal.

It is very important to me to take this course this Summer, as I wish to re-apply to have Psychology as my major.

In the above circumstances, in my respectful opinion, it would be unfair for me to not be allowed to register in, and take, this course this Summer.

All of which is respectfully submitted.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I was diagnosed with ADHD in September of 2021 and started on medication. This made for a very difficult academic year for me, especially given the remote learning required, and the fact that my organizational skills are negatively impacted by my ADHD. As a result, I did not achieve the psychology grade that I had hoped. In order to assist me with my organizational skills I am now having weekly meetings with an ADHD coach. I have every reason to believe that this will assist me with my organizational challenges and deadlines on a go forward basis.
