Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I am writing to appeal the official date of May 14th as the last day to add classes for the summer 2021 semester. I am a mature student looking to graduate at the end of this term. I require 2 psychology credits and 1 elective credit to meet the degree requirements for the General BA Psychology degree plan. I enrolled in the only psychology credit being offered, as I have already taken the other courses listed this term. I had made attempts to contact an academic advisor by phone and by email, and it was delayed due to volume. As a result, I was unaware that INTS 306 was an option for me. I was informed I needed departmental approval, and didn't know how to go about this. Despite my best attempts to complete the process in time, the academic advisor was unable to return my email sooner than Monday (May 17th).

I was also behind in the process because my neuroscience exam was deferred until May 13th due to a family emergency, and I spent my time studying for it.

I am asking that I be admitted into course INTS 306 to complete my degree program on time. I am confident that if I am able to gain admittance into the course within the next couple of days, I can catch up on the work I've missed and be successful.
