Dear Associate Dean of Studies,

I am writing to you to attempt to late drop my failed courses from this semester. I am appealing to drop Psychology 100, and Geology 207. I am also writing to you to appeal my requirement for academic withdraw from Queen¿¿s due to my low GPA.

Like most students, Covid 19 and distance learning has had a huge impact on my ability to be organized and complete my work to the best of my ability. One of the major issues that was a huge factor in my academic performance, I have not been taking my ADHD medication due to it causing major damage to both my social life as well as my mental wellbeing. I am in the process of getting my prescription fine-tuned to better suit my academic need without affecting my happiness and social life. Additionally, being halfway across the world from family has also been a huge factor in how this year went for me. Not having seen your parents or siblings for a year has also contributed to my lack of focus academically this year. I think that my course selection also played a negative role in how this year went for me as I chose courses that were recommended to me rather than courses I was interested in attending. I am doing a lot of reading and research this summer to make sure that my course selection is as interesting and engaging as it can be.

As far as future plans go, I am hoping to take this summer to reorganize and get myself in the right headspace to throw myself into my studies. I know that I can make the most of the opportunity of university if I am permitted to continue that journey.

Sincerely,

Hayden Welsh
