Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I apply for this course because the score of this course is far below my expectation. Because during my online class, my aunt was in a severe car accident. So, she needed to be in hospital for a long time(about 45 days) due to her age (57-years-old) and severe injuries. She needed someone to take care of her. However, due to the COVID-19 period, every Chinese hospital required only one person to accompany her during the whole period, and no replacement could be allowed. Because of this, I was the only one out of all the people who had time and the ability to take care of her. Other people are not able to accompany the whole process because of their job. I entered the hospital on May 5 and began to accompany her. I also had many things to do every day when I was in the hospital with my aunt. For example, to determine her state at the beginning, I had to pay close attention to ensure that I could immediately inform the doctor of any unexpected findings, cooperate with the doctor to complete each examination and confirm the recovery state, and help my aunt with rehabilitation training every day in the later stage(This process was done at home but lasted about three months). As a result, my study time and quality of my assignment(paper and final essay) are significantly reduced. Also, during that period, I tried to apply for postponement of submission of work for multiple courses, such as psyc 271 and psyc 305. But only psyc 305 rejected my application. This makes it more difficult for me to complete each assignment with high quality and efficiency. And psyc 305 has weekly assignment and quiz to complete, which makes it even more difficult. So, my grades are much lower than I expected. Thank you.
