Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I would like to appeal for a late drop in SOCY 122 and for credit standing in PSYC 100. There were a couple family situations that greatly impacted my first year at Queen's. My Grandmother passed away which affected me as she has raised me for most of my life. This also affected my mom in a negative way. A couple months after her passing, my mom had a mental breakdown and had to be hospitalized for a few weeks. When that happened, I had to return home to care for my younger sister. I received a few accommodations for this time, but once I started having to work to help with the bills around the house, the accommodations weren't enough to help me out. I am receiving support through the athletic department and my coaches and I am confident that I am building the academic skills necessary to succeed here at Queen's. This late drop and credit standing will go a long way in helping me move forward with confidence as I won't be stressed academically.
