Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I have just successfully finished my first two semesters at Queen's and have decided to enrol in the summer course, CISC 101. I have also planned to partake in a 6-week internship with the Deutsche Bank in Germany, which should have started on the 21st of June, giving me enough time to complete CISC 101. However, this date changed, and my internship started on the 1st of June. Before the internship had started, I was relatively well on track with my course work and assignments, and I thought that I could continue to manage the workload during the internship. However, as I have now completed the first week of my internship, the work hours are much longer than anticipated, on average resulting in a 50-hour work week. On top of that my internship now will be in three different locations within Germany and, I need to relocate every other week. Current COVID-19 restrictions, such as test requirements and utilizing specific transportation routes, have made my relocation times take up my entire weekends. The change of dates, the unanticipated relocation to the three different cities, and the 50-hour work week coupled with the course work from CISC 101 have caused excessive stress leaving me with restless nights trying to complete assignments or study for tests. I have tried to create and implement different work schedules, unfortunately, no option has been successful.
Therefore, I would like to appeal to drop CISC 101 without academic penalty.
