Dear Associate Dean (Academic),
I am writing to you today to request a return to studies at Queen's University after receiving a Requirement to Withdraw several decades ago.
Since leaving Queen's, I have consistently worked in the health and wellness industry, primarily in the corporate sector. I am currently employed as Director of Corporate Partnership Sales with GoodLife Fitness. I consult with Canadian businesses to assist them in planning their respective wellness strategies, and deliver solutions through movement and education.
From a personal and professional standpoint, I have long been interested in the link between physical activity and optimal mental wellness, and routinely pursue opportunities to self-educate on this topic and communicate the benefit with others.
Since my daughter's diagnosis of Type One diabetes several years ago, I have also become increasingly interested in informed nutrition in the treatment of diabetes as well as for the general population.
With the assistance of Ms. Anna van der Meulen, I have reviewed the scope of coursework required to complete a degree in Health Studies - which we both feel would be the best fit with my interests. With some mapping over of previously completed courses, I would have 18.0 units to complete: ANAT 101 (or ANAT 100), HLTH 205, and then 9.0 units of HLTH option courses at the 200-level or above, and 3.0 units at the 300-level or above.
We have also discussed how this plan would be achievable by taking one course per term over the course of several, sequential terms.
Much time has passed since I left Queen's, and I have matured. Most significantly, I now have full support to pursue academic studies without disturbance or interruption. In the ensuing years, I have developed a greater appreciation for, and determination to complete my education. It is my sincere hope to be allowed to return, complete the required work, and earn a degree from Queen's University.
Yours Truly,
Kristen Gill
