To Dr Jenn Stephenson,
My intention with this letter is to appeal the decision to withdraw for one year.
To be honest, I do not know how to begin to even write this letter. This whole year has been beyond insane, it honestly feels as if I had rolled off a cliff. First COVID came along, which resulted in my rather sudden unemployment, a job I had held since the end of high school, which I needed to pay for school. Then my grandmother passed away, leading to a host of inner family drama I had not wished to have been part of, nor to which I thought existed. Then, by late summer both my dogs of 11+ years had both become critically ill and passed away suddenly, dealing another blow to my small family, financially and emotionally. Stuck in an empty remote home took a rather deep toll on my mental and physical state. I had effectively taken critical damage, and did not address it properly, which resulted in a slow but steady decrease in work drive; and I feel stupid for not recognizing it at the time. I had essentially taken the upswing I had gained at the end of my second year (in which I had managed a 3.0 GPA mind you,) and thoroughly dashed it.
However, as of this time, I have taken the time to stand back and re-evaluate my goals and priorities for the future and I am more than willing to redouble my efforts in academics. I will not be returning to my job, instead I will be taking a loan as to be able to focus on my studies. Similarly, I am hoping my reorganized academic priorities established and tested this summer will provide sufficient proof to my intentions; all I need is a chance with this coming academic year.
Therefore, I write this letter with utmost respect to overturn this decision. I wish to prove myself as a bright student here at Queens University, and would relish the opportunity to do so, at your behest. Thank you for your time.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: As of this moment; this is my current academic plan;
My current areas of concern are academic work habits, namely time-management and missing tutorials/lectures due to schedule overlaps. Therefore, I will be taking a loan to cover the need for employment, freeing up time and resources to further my academics. Secondly, to seek out peer mentorship/study groups for the classes I intend to take next semester. I found that generally those courses in which I¿¿ve had the ability to communicate with others I have found more success in, so I think it¿¿s imperative that I seek out that ability. Third; my current biggest drag on my grades is the fact that I have several failed courses which are dragging my GPA down like an anchor. My intention is to recover those lost GPA by retrying ENGL100, CHEM112, and if available, CLST150. This will significantly improve my grade, and as I¿¿m only roughly .2 or so GPA away from below academic standing, this would not only cover, but put me well ahead of it, likely at a 1.9-2.0 range. In an effort to boost my GPA, I will also attempt to take courses of interest such as HIST 263, War in the twentieth century and GPHY 102 (requirement for my degree) and GPHY 344 (a requirement for a certificate I wish to pursue, namely GIS).
For Winter term, As ENGL100B and CHEM112B are full term courses, I would take GPHY207, a requisite for my degree, as well as GPHY 349, a course for the GIS certificate. Lastly, HIST109 to round out my winter term.
With this, the course load should look like this: ENGL100, CHEM112, HIST263, GPHY102 and GPHY 344 (or CLST150 if GPHY344 is not available) in the fall, and ENGL100B, CHEM112B, GPHY207, GPHY349 and HIST109.
In relation to my degree requirements; this puts me within 9 units of completion of studies, those courses being 208, 209 and 247, which I intend to do in the next academic year, hopefully along with the remainder of the courses required for the GIS certificate, which include any of the following: GPHY 310,325,341,342,346,348,341,343,347,348,372,CISC101,121 to which I need one of the following 342,346,348 and 2 from the rest of the numbers listed above. My intentions are to see an academic advisor about picking those from those courses as to decided which would be best suited for my skill set.
