Decision(s) Being Appealed: Waive the requirement to withdraw for a minimum of three years

Appeal Letter

Appeal Letter: Dear Board of Studies,
I am appealing the Associate Dean??s decision to deny my appeal to waive the Requirement to Withdraw for a Minimum of Three Years. To my understanding, my appeal to waive my withdrawal was initially declined because it was not seen as an extenuating circumstance and that time off could help me find my way to better myself. In the past few weeks, I have scheduled appointments with doctors and am already looking for several more appointments in the future. Furthermore, I have already been introduced to a variety of treatments available, I will not hesitate in trying to find which one works best for me whether it be medication or counseling. I do not think that I need additional time away from school when I am finding treatment already and I have seen progression in my studies even before that. I feel that I can make exponential progress in my studies with the assistance that I am getting as well, additionally I believe that the resources available to me at Queen??s will significantly increase what I am capable of. Regarding my case being an extenuating circumstance, I believe that my mental unwellness has made it significantly difficult to keep on track with my studies, because I had difficulty taking care of myself and focusing, which cycled into a loop that kept feeding onto itself. I truly believe that as I take this new step forward that I have nothing but improvement waiting for me. I plan to make use of the resources such as counseling and academic advising instead of attempting to do everything on my own from now on.
