Decision(s) Being Appealed: Waive the requirement to withdraw for one year

Appeal Letter

Appeal Letter: Upon reading the decision letter, I noticed that there was a part where it read waiving the requirement to withdraw is to be considered if a students academic performance is affected by extenuating circumstances.? In my original letter, I thought I had made it clear that I was going through a very dark and lonely time throughout the second semester, which began near the beginning of March. I was physically and mentally unable to perform at a level that I wanted to, which caused my academic results to be very low. I was battling depression all alone as I was so nervous and ?prideful?? to go see anyone for help, I felt like I could have figured it all out which is where everything went wrong. Not only was my academics affected, but my life outside Queens was facing hardship as well. I had no access or motivation towards physical activities, I gained over 17 pounds and lost more and more motivation day by day to a point where I was feeling like I was trapped in the current state I was in. I had a very difficult time dealing with my family and COVID-19, my brother, aunt, and 3 of my first cousins had been infected with the virus which drove me to the point of having anxiety attacks. It felt like my brain would always think that the worst situation would happen which really messed with my head, my brother would have very mild symptoms and said he was fine, but my anxiety made the worst of things. Especially because he was younger than me by 10 years which made things worse. I had also been going through a breakup in my relationship in the midst of all this which just made things even worse. I was a negative ball of energy that felt hopeless, and it was very unfortunate because I wasn??t able to perform in my 4th year as I wanted to. I decided to finally take action and get some help, this is when I went to my family doctor in the month of June and explained everything from A to Z. Dr. Boozary was extremely helpful and am grateful for all the advice he gave me followed by the next steps moving forward to get myself back together. He referred me to psychological counselling so I can have somebody to talk to which is the best thing I could of done, ever since I have been speaking with the psychologist, I feel like he really understands where I am coming from and the support he offers is really deep and meaningful, I am also in the middle of enrolling in a private tutoring sessions to help me with some course materials, and I am not back in the gym eating well, as I said in the previous letter, this would be my 5th and final year at Queen??s University, and I feel confident and ready to complete the year with a bang, I am getting back into my daily routine and becoming healthier day by day with the help from my family, doctor??s, and friends.
