Petition Letter: Dear Queen¿¿s Associate Dean,
I am writing to you as I am trying to drop my summer course; MUSC 171, with the intention of receiving a DR and not an F. I have not been active at all in my course and this is due to few things. Firstly, COVID-19 and online learning have been extremely difficult on my learning comprehension. I am a student who thrives in the classroom by raising my hand and engaging in course content during class. The online format has been very difficult for me to adjust to and I have not found much success with it. I have always been a good student, so the past year has been quite odd for me. That, accompanied by a dip in my mental health due to all the restrictions has made learning a hassle more than an opportunity. The other reason I think my effort has been lacking is because of my poor time management with the course and my job. That has been difficult to balance for me.
I have made a mistake and I own that. I should have dropped the course earlier in the year but I felt I could accomplish and complete it quickly near the end. I was wrong. I have talked with my professor (Professor Mackay) about my situation and he understood where I was coming from, and recommended that I speak to you. I am a committed student and I do not plan on making actions like these a habit. Simply put, this year has been anything but normal for me. I just ask that you consider the situation differently than normal years.
If you need any paperwork from me, let me know
Thank you for your consideration,
