Re: Academic Appeal ¿¿ Undergraduate ¿¿ Douglas James Heaton ¿¿ Drop Courses after Academic Deadline
I am appealing to drop courses from the Fall Term 2020 and Winter Term 2021 as follows: FILM 343, HIST 243, HIST 400, HIST 443 (Fall Term 2020) and FILM 316, HIST 246, HIST 254 and HIST 444 (Winter Term 2021).
During this period of time, I was suffering from extenuating circumstances beyond my control, a serious and severe mental health issue that significantly impaired my decision making capacity and my ability to fulfil any and all academic obligations. These inabilities included: completing assignments, attending classes, writing tests and exams.
I have since received a diagnosis and have been prescribed medication by my family doctor. I am also seeing a counselor. It is only now with this help that I am able to write this appeal for the Fall term of 2020 and the Winter term of 2021.
I will be continuing to work with my medical team while maintaining a significant support structure to achieve academic success. I will be living with my family and taking courses online to ensure I have ongoing support and the resources I need to achieve success.
Sincerely,
Douglas Heaton
