Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop a course, DEVS 260 (Globalization, Gender and Development). I had an amazing time taking this course until late June when I was diagnosed with Gastroenteritis. I was bedridden for 2 weeks and I sent in medical documentation to the academic office regarding my illness. My professor was very accommodating in supporting me to take the course but unfortunately, I lost a family member to COVID-19. This left me unmotivated to finish my work and I did not feel I have the mental capacity at the moment to finish the course. I am hoping to take the course again in the upcoming semester but I believe I need to take some time to focus on my mental health so I'm better prepared for the Fall and I can excel academically like I did last year. My apologies for the trouble and thank you for the supports.
