Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am appealing to add a course (ENIN140) after the deadline of July 9th, 2021. The reason I am attempting to enrol in ENIN140 past the required date is due to the fact that I have just been made aware that I am missing 3 units to graduate this Fall 2021. This error, although my fault, was missed due to the hectic transition back from my Exchange program in 2020. I left for my exchange to The Netherlands in January 2020, when 2 months later COVID-19 hit and unfortunately forced me to end my exchange term in person and have to continue my academics online through the Summer months of 2020. The transfer credit process took an extended amount of time due to the chaos in the school systems since both Queen's and my exchange school (UCU) adapted to be online. Because of this delay for my transfer credits, I had to account for the exchange credits myself and attempt to figure out exactly how the courses would transfer over into Queen's units. During course selection in both terms in the 2020-2021 school year, my exchange credits were not counted on my transcript. My miscalculation led me to miss 3 units. Additionally, due to my enrollment in the Business Certificate, I have exceeded the number of units allowed from outside the artsci faculty. Long story short, I have completed my ENGL degree and have over the number of credits to graduate but because of my Business Certificate credits as well as LAW201, I am missing 3 units. I have contacted Shari Hughson, the professor of ENIN140 and she has granted me permission to join her course from July to August. I have operated at a high academic level throughout my university career and I am extremely motivated and determined to excel in this course in order to keep my graduation date in the fall. I was not made aware of this mistake until two days ago when I emailed my department head to ask why I had not been receiving convocation-related emails. I deeply apologize for my mistake, but I truly hope to make it right. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Best Regards,
Jaquelin Hollo

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My plan to catch up on the missed course content is to simply work hard and smart. I am an extremely organized person and through my time at Queen's I have been able to successfully juggle my academics with extracurriculars. I currently do not have a Summer job so my main focus would be to work on the course content. I have previously taken Summer courses therefore I understand the time and commitment that goes into succeeding in the course. Given the opportunity to enroll, I will contact Shari immediately to set up a meeting with her to go over the academic requirements, course materials, and any missed work/assignments. Afterward, I will work every day until I have caught up - as I expect I will be able to do so within a week of focused working/studying. This schedule should put me on track to keeping up with the scheduled content.
