Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I am Zhantao Bao, student number 20112086. It has truly been a rough year for me and it has been proven to be challenging for everyone, especially, us, the international students, to cope with this turbulent and uncertain period under Covid-19. For me personally, the circumstances turned out to be even more difficult.

Recently I was diagnosed to have?acute gastroenteritis and
Helicobacter pylori. They are a symptom of non-stop severe flatulence, stomachache, emesis, diarrhea. Because of this, I am hospitalized for a thorough treatment. It was my eager hope that I might be able to be released from hospital and return to home in early July, however, that hope is dashed since my condition has not improved enough but worsened. I won't be able to leave the hospital for at least ten more days. ?But I am feeling better now, with the aid of both western pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine. I was strongly advised by my physician that as long as I stayed away from cold dishes and iced beverages, my conditions will soon be significantly improved. I wholeheartedly wish that everything will be better before the fall semester. Since my hospitalization, I underwent intense treatment, including transfusions, gastroscopy and injections, back in early this month. The course in which I would like to drop is WRIT125, before my illness, I was able to participate in the course for a few weeks, but after my illness emerged, I was not able to study nor participate at all, I couldn??t even access it on onQ, because I simply do not have the energy to do so. I have contacted my instructor, Miss Lori Vos, and informed her of my illness early this month and expressed my wish to return to this course as soon as possible. However, my condition went worse. In our last correspondence, She told me that the best option for me now is to appeal to drop WRIT125 without the academic and financial penalty. In her email, She promised me that I can count on her full support if I am to drop WRIT125. I do wish to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that my circumstances might cause. With your understanding and help, I shall, in the upcoming fall semester, put my academics back on track.

As for the supporting document, My physician, Doctor Li, has issued a description of my symptom. The document is hand-written, I??ve taken the liberty of using Netease Translator, to get a roughly accurate English translation. I will attach both the original document and its translation.

If you have any further question, please feel free to contact me at any time
I wish to express my sincere gratitude to you for your understanding and help at this difficult hour.
