Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I wish to drop ECON212 following the academic deadline. I enrolled in the class for the May-July summer semester. I am currently five weeks behind on course content and have missed several crucial assignment deadlines. I remained absent for the majority of the Fall 2020 semester, as I endured extremely unfortunate family circumstances. Hence, I devoted some of the fall 2020 semester and the majority of the Winter 2021 semester towards completing courses from fall 2020. Additionally, I spent the summer term concluding my Winter 2021 classes. The events that transpired during Fall 2020 created a prolonged adverse affect on my mental health and my ability to concentrate on school. I have provided documentation from Student Wellness Services for both the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 terms. I am presently visiting a psychiatrist not affiliated with Queen's University; and I endeavour to return to my studies in a more structured manner during and beyond the fall 2021 term. Since I was managing my courses from the Winter 2021 semester coupled with other responsibilities, such as employment, I have lacked a substantial ability to satisfactorily complete ECON212.

ECON212 is offered during the Fall 2021 semester and the course stands as a mandatory requirement towards my degree. I plan on taking ECON212 then, at a time where I can prioritize academic excellence. Because of my extenuating circumstances whilst managing courses during the previous semester; I am confident that a late drop appeal is justified, as I could not adequately give ECON212 my utmost attention.

Much appreciated,
Alexander Traynor
