Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I hope this finds you well.
I would like to start off by saying that the health issues affecting the 2020-21 fall and winter semesters have resolved, leaving me with a successful May-June semester. I completed 3 double paced courses with stellar grades and felt as though for the first the time over my academic career I was able to show my true potential considering my lack of serious health concerns. Unfortunately, however, a secondary health issue arose since the completion of this miniature semester, impacting the 12-week May-July course. My professor was incredibly accommodating, however due to a flare-up of the condition occurring during provided extensions, I was directed by the professor to apply for a late drop. I am devastated as I thought my health was finally manageable and was not anticipating yet another new issue to present itself. I am currently waiting for another specialist appointment in August with hopes of it being fully resolved come September. Should this request of late drop be granted, I plan to retake it in the fall alongside my remaining 2 elective courses. I was really enjoying the course, and my grades before my new symptoms presented at the end of June reflected my true ability. Because they were new to me as well, I did not anticipate them lasting this long. Part of me also didn??t want to give up considering the appeals I??ve already had to make this year for other reasons.
Should you need any more information, please don??t hesitate to ask as I am more than happy to comply.
Kind regards,
Katie Rattray
