New Information: I did not adequately explain why I did not respond appeal the withdrawal notification in the requested timeframes. The fact of the matter is that most of the email I receive from the school is inconsequential, requiring little or no action on my part. Truthfully, aside from receiving countless emails about jobs on campus or new events that have a Queen's logo on them, I did not feel like a Queen's student given I was trying to study from my bedroom in Texas. Net is that I ignore most of it. Couple this with the fact advisors had not pointed to a withdrawal notice, insisting that there would be no trouble picking majors and that having a bad year through remote learning would be acknowledged. I should have read the email, though the lack of a call to action without a subject line something like - URGENT: IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED or IMPORTANT: READ NOW would have pushed me to recognize the importance of the email, which would have driven me to action. I would have appealed on the day it was received. I remain distressed by everything that has happened and simply want to start my Queen's career with Covid behind me but it seems that it continues to hinder my academic growth. I was looking forward to a reset, basically taking my second year as year one. But I was not aware of the fact that one email would put all of that to a stop.
