Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

My name is William Berry (10111476) and I am writing the academic appeals department with the intent to wave the 21-day deadline on a receiving a judgement that requires myself to withdraw for three years. Extreme extenuating circumstances outside of my control prevented myself from sending in my academic appeal in a timely manner. In particular my father Grant Stuart Berry finally succumbed in his fight against Alzheimers, Lewy body dementia and thyroid cancer. My father passed away at home on May 22 of this year which was in the immediate wake of the judgement to withdrawal for three years and this traumatic event directly impacted my ability to submit my appeal in a timely manner. In the addition to the severe emotional distress this has caused myself and my family it had also placed stress on the myself to assist my mother with documentation, financial planning, taxes and other time consuming work in my fathers stead in the wake of his death. It has taken me to this point to come to the conclusion that returning to school this fall is what I wish to do and I believe that facts of my situation make a strong case for both waiving the 21 day deadline and eventually having the 3 year requirement to withdraw on my account. This requirement to withdraw was placed on my account as I had a very poor winter 2021 semester as I was caring for my father in all aspects of his existence in his final months of life. However, I believe my academic record shows that I had a very good fall 2020 semester and I believe it is fare to conclude that my fathers rapid decline and death directly contributed to my poor academic outcome in the winter 2021 semester and my inability to submit a timely appeal to the schools decision to place me on a 3 year requirement to withdraw. I have an assortment of relevant documentation to support the facts of this appeal letter. In this appeal you will find my fathers death certificate, my fathers obituary and finally his autopsy report which confirmed his doctors clinical diagnosis that he did indeed suffer form the diseases I have claimed.
