Petition Letter: My name is Decheng Zhu (Student ID: 20124443, NetID: 18dz6). I am appealing to take three 3.0 units online courses at Athabasca University (Fall, 2021).
Considering the current status of the COVID-19, I am not going to be able to attend the fall term courses at Queens. Apart from that, due to the fact that I only finished two courses in the winter term, I am falling behind schedule. In order to keep up with my study plan, I would like to look for some online courses that I can take and will be able to transfer grades into Queens. As a result, I decided to apply the Athabasca COMP 325, COMP 318, and COMP 272, which are the replacement of the Queen's CISC 220 CISC 226, and CISC 235 respectively. After I fill out the Application Letter of Permission, prepare the course outline and the Receipt screenshot. I contacted ASC Academic asc.academic@queensu.ca. I was told that As a 3rd or 4th year student you can only take a maximum of 6.0 units in each fall or winter. If you wish to take more than 6.0 units you need appeal to the associate dean. Please let me know if you are going to appeal or only take 2 of the 3 listed on your application. Therefore, I wrote this appeal, hoping that I can take this opportunity.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I have reviewed my Academic Advisement Report in SOLUS, and I understand my remaining degree requirements. The main challenge that I encountered is the fact that I am falling behind schedule, which is going to affect my graduation. I choose to apply the Athabasca COMP 325, COMP 318, and COMP 272 is part of the solution to this challenge. Athabasca COMP 325 and COMP 272 (Queen's CISC 220 & CISC 235) are taken as concentration, and Athabasca COMP 318 (Queen's CISC 226) is taken as elective. After completing these courses, I am going to have a much wide course selection. Apart from that, I want to take COCA-201, which requires 6.0 units from ARTF, or ARTH, or DRAM, or FILM, or MUSC. I am planning to take 6 units of those courses in the next summer term in order to meet the requirements of taking COCA-201. However, this will not be able to solve the problem, if I cannot get more units form other resource, my graduation will still be delayed. I am still considering what are the things I could do to help me in this circumstance. As far as I know, there are other students are facing the same or similar situation. I believe it is helpful to talk with them and find a solution together. Therefore, I have already taken action to contact them.
