Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean,
I am requesting to change my grade to CR only for my Rels 131 class this summer 2021 semester as I experienced excruciating experiences out of my reach. Towards the second half of the semester, my mental health had deteriorated pretty significantly. I was enrolled in two classes this summer semester. Around the beginning of July, after my Hlth 237 class ended, my mental health had became worse which is why I am only appealing to change my Rels 131 grade into CR.
After seeking help from my family doctor, I was put back on a higher strength of my antidepressants. This dose change ended up doing more harm than good. Getting out of bed became an issue and I constantly felt nauseous from them. During the last month of the course, I was on and off different types and strengths of antidepressants in hopes of finding one that worked. And as a result of this, although I was still trying my best to keep up with and turn in assignments, I found it very hard to do as the side effects took over. My mind was in a very dark place and I spend most of the summer by myself in bed, with no energy as I had no appetite as well. I have currently been on the wait list for psychiatric help. Since the course ended, I have put forth more time and energy into my mental health.
