Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

I am Yawen Zhang and I major in Economics, and my Queen's student ID is 20091668. I plan to take fall-session courses abroad in at a Spanish university named Universidad Catolica San Antonio De Murcia (UCAM) in the Fall 2021.

The courses I'm planning to take at UCAM are:
13007 General Chemistry, which is equivalent to Queen's CHEM 112 General Chemistry
13008 General Chemistry II, which is equivalent to Queen's CHEM 112 General Chemistry
13805 Dynamic Earth, which is equivalent to Queen's GEOL 104 The Dynamic Earth

The reason why I plan to take courses at another institution in my third year and apply for transferring the credits back to Queen's. I am supposed to graduate in 2023 summer, but now I hope I can graduate half a semester earlier because I wish there's more time for me to schedule my study and work. If I complete some courses in my spare time in the Fall 2021, I will expedite my graduation. And then I can have more time to do internships and apply for graduate school. That's why I need to have a tight timeline to take fall-session courses while studying at Queen's.

I will write to get a written permission from my department and appeal to the Associate Dean (Studies). Hopefully you may take time out of your busy schedule to kindly grant me a Letter of Permission.

Best Regards,
Yawen Zhang

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: My academic plan for the coming semester is to take 4-5 courses, based on a sensible combination of required and elective courses, as well as the class schedule. My course plan for the next fall semester of 2021 are ECON 232, ECON 310, ECON 320 (wait list), and ECON 351. If ECON 320 is not accepted, I will choose an elective course to round out my course load for the semester. This semester's curriculum are demanding, and I plan to balance my excellent GPA with pleasurable studying. The majority of my current enrolled classes in the winter semester of 2022 are electives. Because department consent is required for ECON 480-499, and certain courses require the completion of ECON 310 and other prerequisites. As a result, in the course study plan, I will allocate time reasonably and evenly distribute the courses to each semester.
