Petition Letter: I am hoping to appeal the 21 day deadline due to an honest mistake which led to my unknowingness of two failed courses, BIOL 103 and ECON 112 in the Winter 2021 term. With the ongoing pandemic as well as having my 90 year old grandmother at home to take care of I was unable to complete my course work during the winter period. I decided it would be best to then drop the two courses I had (BIOL 103, ECON 112). Upon hearing from the registrars office it now appears to me that I had indeed not dropped BIOL 103 and ECON 112 in Winter 2021 despite my belief that I had. On April 2nd, my father suffered from a severe cardiac failure which led him to being hospitalized for several weeks, a large part of which he was in a medically induced coma. Due to this I had not thought about my schooling and did not think to check and confirm that I had dropped BIOL 103 and ECON 112 since I was focusing on the well being of my family. I believe this is an honest mistake as I did not think I had classes to attend too. In addition, none of the course work was completed in the winter 2021 term as I was dealing with the situation at home.
