Petition Letter: Academic Appeal Letter

Dear Associate Deans,

I am appealing to drop ARTH293 (Winter, 2021), ARTH215 (Winter, 2021), ARTH248 (Winter, 2021) due to physical illness.

I had surgery done on December 2nd, 2020. My surgeon suggested that it might take several months to recover fully. I was having difficulty coping with the inconvenience of not being able to walk or sit. I didn't drop my courses before the deadline on the eighth week because I wanted to catch up on all the assignments that I missed under Academic Consideration, which I was planning to apply later in the term. However, I wasn't resting well under the pressure of studying, and my incision was healing worse and slower than expected. It was so uncomfortable that it affected my overall academic performance. On a revisit to Dr. Agrawal, she suggested that my wound might have an infection or leave scars if I continuously irritated it. Therefore, I decided to drop all my courses so that I could spend enough time taking care of myself. In addition, I realized I couldn't finish the final exams to pass them under my health condition.

I had a physical examination with Dr. Agrawal in August, and the result came back great. I am retaking these courses in the fall term, and I believe I could complete them now that I am in better physical form. I also have monthly appointments with her to determine if I need additional help.
