Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I would like to add the world Religions course (code 131) into my academic plan for this year 2021. The reason that it is not done already is that I am a student at the Bader international study Centre which is located in the UK so all my emails and information I get are related to the term and deadlines here at the BISC not back in Kingston. With that, the deadline for switching and adding classes here at the BISC is the 24th of September at 4 p.m. UK time. I was not made aware of the September 20th time for switching classes back in Kingston. I talked to an academic advisor on Monday, September 20 and they did not make me aware of this deadline. I also emailed the course prof trying to get more information on Tuesday the 23 of September and they did not tell me about the deadline either. So as you can see I was trying to switch into a class with a deadline that I did not know about and none of my academic advisors and teachers were aware of the deadline either. I would like to take World Religions because I need a fifth credit this term as I was not able to meet the grade level of a 5-in in the HL courses for IB so, therefore, I cannot transfer that credit. I needed 120 credits for my degree so I need to take this course. As you can see between being in a program in a different country and not getting the main campus emails along with academic advisors here in the UK and teachers back on the main campus not knowing the deadlines I was unaware of everything that needed to be done. I would have made the decision sooner and got everything all done in the right time frame had I known. I am a student who likes being on time and getting everything done when it needs to be done. I would have done this already but in this situation that was not possible.
