Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

My name is Molly Prentice. When I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. I went through 16 rounds of chemotherapy which luckily worked. I have been cancer free for almost 2 years. With that being said, I am immunocompromised. With the numbers of positive COVID- 19 cases here at Queen's University, I have begun to worry a lot more about being exposed. Last year when I was in grade 12 I did most of my courses online since there were a lot of positive cases in my classes and within my school. The reason why I did not request this change earlier is because I recently found out that there have been positive cases at both Victoria Hall and West Campus residence. I understand that these requests are not just given out. I cannot stress this enough that I truly believe putting psychology 100 online will eliminate the anxiety I have over possibly getting sick. I am also taking biology, chemistry, and calculus. The reason why I am not putting those courses online is because I do not feel as strong of an understanding in those courses as I do in psychology. My biology, chemistry, and calculus lectures are all livestreamed as well. I can watch them wherever I feel safe and comfortable to do so. I find psychology very interesting and I will continue to give psychology and all of my other courses as much of my attention and time needed to give in order to thrive in those courses.

Thank you,
Molly Prentice.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Hello,

My name is Molly Prentice. I do understand that changing this course online so late into the term means that there will be a lot of catching up to do. I am not looking for an easier class by putting it online. With that being said, I am prepared to dedicate as much time needed to strive in all of my courses and stay ahead of the assignments, readings, and notes. I have recently begun making appointments with the residence therapists here at Queen??s University. I am ready and have thoroughly thought about my school work and mental health balance. I am prepared to do what I have to in order to feel comfortable and prepared in all of my courses. I am caught up and ahead of my psychology 100 in person class. If the material is different I will make sure I am also ahead in the online version of this course. School means a lot to me which is why I picked such a highly academic school to go to. My academics are my first priority. I understand that these decisions are not made lightly and I can assure you by having this course put online will lower my anxiety that is due to school. It will overall create a better and more comfortable work environment for myself to thrive in and become as academically successful as I wish to be. If I begin to feel stressed due to the amount of work I have already spoken to academic success here at Queen??s University, I will not hesitate to make more appointments if needed to make sure I am comfortable in the amount of work I am expected to do.

Thank you,
Molly Prentice
