Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I hope you are doing well and staying safe.

I am appealing to late enroll into CLST 102-001(1519) instructed by Professor F.Colivicchi for this ongoing 2021 fall term. The reason for my late enrollment can be generalized into three categories: personal extenuating circumstances, schedule conflicts, and potential major change.

For the span of the month of September (starting from the first week of September), I was dealing with personal family problems that have deviated my attention from university. This has most notably affected my ability to keep focus and track of academic deadlines. In addition with being toppled with the new transition to university and a drastic change in lifestyle/environment. My personal family issues have fortunately regressed since the month of September (where I talked with a personal counselor) and am currently trying to refocus my aptitude towards university. In result I had novicely constructed my schedule, enrolling in non-core classes that conflicted in time with my core classes, something that I found out a little too late. At a later than usual time frame, I had dropped some non-core classes in order to enroll into my core classes for the winter term, but this did not enable me to enroll into CLST 102 for the fall semester. Taking CLST 102, will allow me to delve into my interests in classical studies that I had from the beginning - something I was looking forward to doing in university. Although this is not one of my core classes, I think it is imperative for me to take it as a first year as I am still heavily considering a change in major towards this field, and thus a change in interest. With approved permission from Professor Colivicchi, I am most certainly able to take on this course, despite my prior extenuating circumstances.
