Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Jonah Grienke, and I am asking for assistance and understanding in dropping PHIL 260.
During the weeks leading up to the midterm, my psychological health was in a terrible place, considering not only that I had 3 midterms, but also that one of them was in-person and I had not taken an in-person examination since my last year of highschool, over two years ago. In addition, at home my family and myself were struggling with the death of a close friend who passed on October 15th from cancer.
The combination of these two factors directly impacted my ability to study and succeed in my academics, as my midterm mark in PHIL 260 demonstrates. I barely passed, making a 51% mark on a midterm worth 30%.
My hopes are to continue after my undergrad to law school, and as such my GPA is of utmost importance. This course is not going to bolster my GPA, and by dropping it I hope to take a summer course during 2022 to make up the lost credits and obtain a better mark, which will allow me to fulfill my goals.
Thank you for you consideration, I hope to hear from you soon.
