Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To who it may concern,

I??m constructing this academic appeal today in order to drop my ARTH 214 class. The reason that I have to submit the form is due to an inconsistency with the information being given to me, and the unfortunate unfolding of the semester. I had a problem regarding this class and receiving an academic accommodation. The difficulties met with attempting to receive an accommodation due to my circumstances within the class and the lack of accommodation given resulted in me receiving a detrimental grade on an important assignment within the course. The grade received on this assignment puts me in a position to perform poorly in the class overall, this along with my presumed ability to leave the course has resulted in me feeling that I have even passed a point in which I can recover a passing grade.
I??m in my final year at queens and I am attempting to obtain the highest GPA possible before I apply for a Masters Program. This logic had me taking classes in which I felt aligned with my creative and educational interests, ARTH 214 being one of them. However, I??m now placed in a position in which I would have to take additional schooling in order to make up for the mark I would receive in this course. I attempted to drop this class as soon as I was made aware of my position in the course, however, when I attempted to drop it and was met with difficulties. By difficulties I mean I was unable to drop it due to Solus not allowing. After this I attempted to contact academic resources, and was instructed that I should be able to drop the class. I then tried again to drop the course over the weekend, after being declined once more I waited for the academic resource office to open and contacted them. It was from this second call that I was instructed this time that the drop date had passed, and that I??d have to submit an appeal form. I truly hope to have this issue solved so I can continue to focus on the other class I'm enrolled in, as once again, I??m aiming to obtain the highest GPA I possibly can before continuing my education and I don??t feel that I can afford to take an additional course next semester on top of the ones I already have planned to take.
