Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Dean Patrick,

Im writing this letter to you giving you notice that I am appealing to drop SPAN111 004/005?

The last month has been the most draining and overwhelming month for me. My mental health has rapidly taken the turn for the worst and unfortunately I couldn??t help myself so I took some time to go home and continue my studies. right now I??m enrolled in four 6 credit courses and trying to figure what I want to major in and what exactly is best for me. Being said, taking Spanish has gotten completely overwhelming and has triggered my anxiety on top of being stressed in my other classes. I strongly feel it would be best to retake this course second term when I better understanding of what works for me and have a better handle on my mental health. You may question and ask ?? why drop this course now? ? well I tried my hardest to keep up with the work and reach out to multiple tutors, extra help with the prof and studied as hard as I could, which isn??t enough. I??m in four really hard courses right now and trying to adapt to the change from high school to this, dealing with my mental health and family problems is all too much. Queens has done a lot to help me and I truly appreciate the help but right now what??s best for me is to be in 4 courses and continue with five next term. Being that, Spanish is only a three credit course.

Thank you for understanding, I truly appreciate the support and help from queens

Sincerely,

Mikaela Young-Gayle
