Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear academic Appeal Board,
I am writing this complaint due to an incident that occurred in my Course ENIN200. It was regarding peer feedback to be submitted via forums through the ONQ portal. I felt quite ill the day that it was due and decided that I would rather face the 10% penalty as noted in the course syllabus, rather than submit poor quality work. However, I was unaware that once the deadline had been reached, the forums close and I would be unable to submit any work. I immediately emailed the teaching support team and the only response I received from the head TA was that there simply was nothing they could do. I took matters into my own hands and emailed each student that I was required to provide peer feedback for and sent an email as if it were the forum section through ONQ. I then made a word document combining all the emails that I sent and attached that document in an email sent to the teaching team for my course. I understand that this may not have been the best way to go around this issue, however, I wanted to have documentation submitted within less than a day late to demonstrate that I should only face a 10% penalty.
I understand this may not be the correct resource to be filing this complaint, but my professor is away until December 5th, this course being online, and never going through the process of a late assignment, I am quite concerned and confused on how to properly handle this situation.
Thank you,
Matthias Streblow

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I believe that I have been able to achieve and follow a somewhat successful academic plan in the past. This was my first assignment that was late and I was under the impression that I would only face a 10% penalty, not an incomplete. This was a circumstance that only occured because I was sick the day I planned on completing this assignment, and I have been punctual for all of my other assignments during my one-and-a-half years spent at Queen's University.
