Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop the course ASTR 101. My mental health, because of this course, has been heavily affected this year. I also have ADHD, which already makes school harder for me. Because of the course, the effects I feel from ADHD are much harsher. It has been challenging for me to continue with this course because of the stress and anxiety it brings me. I don't think I will pass the course and do not want it to affect my other courses. I'm deciding to drop the course now because it was only recently that the workload had become too much. The tests take up a large amount of time, causing stress and exhausting me mentally. I thought I would complete the course at the beginning of the semester when the workload was lighter. Still, even then, I was most stressed about ASTR 101 because it felt much more challenging than any of my other courses. Overall, the course has made me feel constantly overwhelmed and exhausted. My mental health has been terrible because of it, making it difficult to complete other work.
