Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am writing this appeal to drop my BIOL339 course. Throughout the past year I have been struggling significantly with my mental health and ability to concentrate and complete tasks to the best of my ability. I have dealt with issues relating to Attention Deficit Disorder for several years and have been referred to a psychologist to undergo more extensive testing and to acquire a solution to put an end to these struggles that have been. This continues to extensively damage my academic career and ultimately my perspective on my self-worth. Additionally, I will be seeking help to overcome extensive struggles with my mental health. I have always loved school and learning, however have reached a point where I feel incapable of succeeding and that my abilities are handicapped by circumstances that are not in my control, no matter how strongly I wish that they were. I initially dropped an elective at the beginning of this semester in hopes that a lighter workload would aid my ability to learn and retain information and allow the time necessary to succeed in my courses. I believe that this helped, however have reached a point where my stress is overwhelming and the damage that this course would cause to my GPA would be irreparable. I believe that it is in my best interest both academically and mentally to drop this course, even with the result of the academic penalty that it entails. If you require any additional information, I am willing to meet with someone to discuss anything that I have talked about in this appeal. I am also able to reach out to my doctor to acquire documentation regarding my referral to see a psychologist in relation to Attention Deficit Disorder.
