Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I was advised to appeal for a Late Drop of the courses I did in Fall of 2020. Due to my increased struggle with my mental health, I failed all of these courses despite my efforts, and I would appreciate the opportunity to reattempt these courses so that my grades reflect my effort and determination.

Before returning home, in Trinidad and Tobago, I struggled with my mental health, and it got drastically worse as time progressed.I had trouble concentrating, sleeping, and enjoying things. During my second year, I constantly battled with lack of sleep and suicidal thoughts which made it difficult for me to attend classes and complete assignments with a clear mind.I had trouble making sure I ate proper meals and even more trouble getting out of bed. I have since taken a term off (Fall 2021) and have been attending therapy. I was diagnosed and have been receiving appropriate treatment. I have felt a significant improvement compared to last year and believe I am now ready to return to my academic journey at Queen??s. An academic advisor explained to me that appealing for the Late Drop will essentially remove these failing grades and they will no longer count towards my cGPA.

I have arranged to continue therapy online when I return to campus in January 2022. I am hoping that I can help my GPA improve and am able to continue working toward my degree with my best efforts. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Kind regards,
Abigail Yee Ken.
