Dear Dr. Jill Atkinson,
I write this letter today to appeal for the late drop of my General Organic Chemistry Course (CHEM 281). In late October, I unfortunately suffered a severe concussion. Following this injury, my ability to follow course content and complete assignments came to an immediate halt. In spite of missing a great deal of content during my recovery process, I remained hopeful that I would be able to catch up throughout November to finish the semester strong. As my health proved in early November, I worked closely with Q-SWS, Q-SAS, SASS, as well as my professors to figure out strategies on how I could catch up in all my courses. While this proved to be easier in some courses than others, it was suggested to me by one of my professors that, at this point in the semester, I would be better off appealing for a late drop rather than drowning myself in weeks of missed content. I took this into consideration and in the week that followed, I saw my mental health progressively deteriorate from being constantly stressed and overworked. And as such, I would like to formally request a late drop for CHEM 281.
