Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Madam/Sir,
I hope you all doing well. I will then briefly state the reasons for my appeal. First of all, my health condition was influenced by the weather here in Kingston when I arrived on campus. The cloudy and rainy days made my room wet and dark. Unfortunately, due to an inadequate understanding of mental illness, I only thought I was sick. I was too fatigued and exhausted during this period, so I had to stay in the dormitory room alone.
I gradually lost the ability and interest to communicate with friends and stayed in the room by myself for the whole school year. Fortunately, I chose an elective course in psychology in the summer; then, I realized my potential psychological problems and turned to the doctor for help. At the time, due to medical limitations, my bipolar disorder was diagnosed but not adequately treated. When I returned to school in the second school year, my psychological problems became severe due to the bad weather again. Because of the unique nature of the mental illness, I did not realize the importance of seeking help from doctors, and I did not know there was any way to get psychological assistance at school. In addition, my health condition got even worse because I was too busy studying and trying to keep the same pace with my peers. At the end of my sophomore year, I received psychological counselling and treatment and began to take medications. However, due to the side effects of drugs, I repeatedly experience depression, mania, nausea, insomnia, and anxiety disorder that make me feel helpless. Thus my ability to learn has been dramatically affected.
Best Regards,
Zi
