Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I unfortunately will not be able to take computing courses on campus this winter and thus am planning to take the following courses at Athabasca University online:
COMP 314 in place of CISC 324: Operating Systems
COMP 482 in place of CISC 325: Human Computing Interaction
COMP 372 in place of CISC 365: Algorithms I
COMP 378 in place of CISC 332: Database Management System
I have decided to go with this institution as it was referenced on the school of computing website along with a list of Athabasca courses that could be used in lieu of the Queen's courses above: https://www.cs.queensu.ca/undergraduate/faq/problems-getting-into-courses.phpathabasca-equivalents.
As far as I am aware, I meet the requirements for taking more than 6.0 units at another institution and have already been granted permission from the undergrad chair via email exchange.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: The focus of your studies:
My focus is to continue progressing my degree in computer science by taking the following courses next semester:
COMP 314 in place of CISC 324: Operating Systems
COMP 482 in place of CISC 325: Human Computing Interaction
COMP 372 in place of CISC 365: Algorithms I
COMP 378 in place of CISC 332: Database Management System
These are courses that I must take in order to satisfy my degree requirements.
Your expectations or intentions with respect to your workload:
My expectations are to have a productive winter semester, furthering my knowledge in computer science with the above courses. My intentions are to put in the work and be productive. Since I was deregistered from most of my fall term courses, I am looking forward to finally having a serious course-load again.
Strategies for success (What challenges have you encountered and how will you address those in the future):
The main challenges I have encountered this school year have been not being able to take computing courses on campus, getting deregistered from most of my fall term courses, and losing all the progress I made in those fall term courses. I will not let this get in my way or discourage me from getting an education. I am passionate about progressing my academic career and am fully prepared to do so with the above courses. Hopefully by next fall I will be able to carryout my studies as usual.
