Petition Letter: dear faculties of ART&SCIENCE:

I am making this appeal because I experienced bereavement and related family issues and mental illness in winter term 2021 so that I was failed to complete the course work at that time. After consulting the academic consideration team and my instructors I dropped part of my courses and took incomplete grades for my econ 244 and econ 231 by June 18th in the summer term.

however, I seem underestimated the time needed to be fully recovered, the depression and anxiety recurred in the summer term, this made me hard to make up all the missed work by the appointed deadline. I tried to get an extension for the incomplete grades before this term began, but my instructors thought it had been quite a long time and the knowledge is no longer fresh in my mind, so they suggested I repeat the course this term and I followed this advice.

when I am about to make the application to graduate programs now, I realized that these two courses were recorded as a fail on my transcript and lowered my GPA, so I hope I can drop them from my transcript so that they won't affect my applications.

For supporting documents, I have my follow-up medical report in June to prove I did not complete the IN for reason. hope this appeal could be approved.
